Marvel Rivals Text and Voice Chat Moderation Guidelines

To maintain a healthy and welcoming in-game communication environment, Marvel Rivals employs a combination of automated system detection, player reports, and manual review to identify and handle inappropriate text and voice chat.

These guidelines outline the scope of prohibited speech, our text and voice detection mechanisms, the report handling process, and corresponding penalties.

Scope of Prohibited Speech

The following rules apply to all in-game text and voice communications. Prohibited content includes, but is not limited to:

Promoting Bug Exploits and Cheats

• Promoting game bug exploits or unauthorized tools.

• Promoting information or tools related to cheating.

Harassment and Offensive Language

• Insults, threats, harassment, or highly offensive remarks.

• Verbally abusing others due to their in-game performance or for any other reason.

• Any form of discrimination or hate speech, including attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, physical/mental ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Content Endangering Safety or Involving Illegal Activities

• Content involving child sexual exploitation or endangering child safety.

• Doxing (i.e., publishing or threatening to publish someone's private information).

• Violent content or threats of violence.

• Encouraging or inciting others to engage in self-harm or suicide.

• Promoting or participating in terrorism or extremism.

• Content involving illegal activities or drugs.

Pornographic and Sexually Explicit Content

• Pornography, sexual harassment, or non-consensual sexual advances.

Disruptive Behavior and Rule Violations

• Spamming, advertising, or promoting third-party services such as boosting or Real-Money Trading (RMT).

• Encouraging others to violate game rules.

Text and Voice Detection Mechanisms

Our automated systems actively identify prohibited text and voice communications without relying solely on player reports. Every week, we use verified reports to update and refine these systems, continuously improving their ability to accurately detect new expressions and chat contexts to cover a broader range of violations.

That said, player reports remain a crucial channel for identifying misconduct. We manually review all flagged content, whether detected by our systems or reported by players, to ensure accurate and fair enforcement.

Text Detection and Interception

Our text moderation system monitors in-game chat in real time. Beyond filtering explicit prohibited terms, the system analyzes semantics and context to identify and intercept insults, discrimination, harassment, violent threats, spam, and other inappropriate language before they escalate.

Automated Voice Detection

Our system automatically checks communication in the game's voice channels, analyzing the spoken content and its context to identify prohibited speech.

Voice detection operates strictly in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and our User Agreement. Voice data is used exclusively to recognize and handle rule violations, and we are heavily committed to safeguarding player privacy and information.

Reporting and Handling Process

If you encounter prohibited speech, you can submit a report using the in-game reporting tool either during or immediately after a match.

Every single report is logged and put directly into our moderation workflow. Following manual review by our team, we will take the appropriate disciplinary actions based on our findings.

Penalties

We escalate disciplinary actions based on the severity and frequency of the behavior. Penalties may begin with warnings and escalate to mutes and matchmaking restrictions.

 

Penalty Type	Details
Warning	A formal warning issued for inappropriate speech.
Mute	Depending on the severity of the violation, chat and voice bans can last up to 365 days.
Matchmaking Restriction	Players with multiple violations will be temporarily blocked from participating in matches.
Long-Term Account Ban	For particularly severe offenses or repeated violations, we will issue a long-term suspension, preventing the player from logging into the game.
